Abraham Lincoln Dunham, 89, of Hollis, NH, passed away on September 18, 2007 following a lengthy illness at Harborside/Crestwood in Milford surrounded by his family. Born April 16, 1918 in Chelmsford, MA, son of Abraham L. and Elizabeth (Maker) Dunham. He was educated in the Chelmsford and Lowell school systems and the Pittsburgh School of Aeronautical Engineering. He was a licensed Real Estate Broker in NH and MA, a Notary Public and Justice of the Peace. He served nine years in the Massachusetts National Guard, 182nd Infantry, Headquarters Company with both Lowell and Waltham Armories. While living in Swampscott and Lowell he was employed in Research and Development at Thomson Laboratory at General Electric in Lynn, MA. He was also employed in the same capacity at Raytheon, Andover, MA and twelve years at Sanders Associates in Nashua, NH. He moved to Dunstable where he opened Dunham Real Estate as Owner/Broker. In later years he moved to Milford, NH, and was affiliated with the development of Leisure Acres Mobile Home Park and was the Managing Broker for sixteen years. He was a member of the NH and MA Board of Realtors. He was Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Puritan Chapter #54, Lowell, MA; a Dad of Lowell Assembly #42 of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls where he was a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color. He held membership in William North Lodge, Knight Templar of Lowell and was a Noble of the Aleppo Temple of Boston. He was a member of the Hollis Senior Citizens Association and a 30+ year member of the Dunstable Grange. He was the Charter President of the Dunstable Horsemen’s Association, Assistant Leader of the Dunstable Dusty Dudes 4-H Horse Club and a member of the Merrimack Valley Riding and Driving Club. He was owner of Crooked Spring Ranch in Dunstable where many equestrian events were held. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace I. (Laporte) Dunham of Hollis. Two daughters, Donna L. Wardlow of Milford and Sherry A. Nixon and husband Bruce of Bennington, NH, a beloved granddaughter, Jacqueline Spencer and husband Michael of Port Neches, TX, five grandsons Lincoln A. Smith of Milford, Paul D. Wardlow of Hudson, Shamar L. Nixon, Zachary D. Nixon and Jacob D. Nixon all of Bennington; four great-granddaughters and three great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law Harold and Ruth Entwistle of Dracut, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Connor Dwyer and a granddaughter Cheyenne Victoria Nixon. At his request there will be no calling hours and services are private at the convenience of his family. There will be a Memorial Celebration on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 2pm to 4pm, at 6 Market Place, Hollis, NH, for family and friends. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the Hollis Fire and Rescue, Hollis, NH 03049.
