Adam H. Charter died at the age of 59, on February 1, 2025, in Manchester, NH due to a cardiac arrest.
He is survived by his only sibling, Gareth M. Charter and Gareth’s wife Elizabeth of Needham, MA along with one nephew, two nieces, and five cousins.
He was born in Nashua, NH shortly after his parents returned from England where they were married after meeting through work. His father Jack A. Charter, also from Manchester, N.H., was transferred to London for work in the mid-60s where he met Sheila Duggan, originally from Liverpool, England. They married in Warwick, England in 1964 and then moved to Nashua, N.H.
Adam graduated from Bishop Guertin High School and then the University of New Hampshire. He moved to Boston after college and attended the New England School of Law, while working at a downtown Boston law firm.
Following the death of his mother Sheila at the age of 54 in 1989 from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Adam began to battle escalating mental health issues including bipolar disorder.
He returned to New Hampshire after many years in the Boston area and later worked for Easter Seals of New Hampshire assisting disabled adults with workforce development.
Adam was a passionate sports fan, particularly for his beloved Dallas Cowboys, along with the Boston Bruins and Celtics. His love for Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones began in junior high school and continued his entire life, and during his Boston years he was an avid live music fan.
Services in Adam’s memory were private.
“Sing it with me, if it’s just for today. Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away.”
