It is with heavy hearts the we announce the passing of Alan Fisher on January 5, 2025. He was born in Manchester, NH on December 4,1959 to Charles and Marion Fisher. Alan took on his diagnosis of glioblastoma with strength and determination, always thinking he would beat it. Though his physical presence has left this world, his spirit will forever be with us. We find solace knowing he's fishing to his hearts content.
He was the husband of Joan Fisher for 37 mostly wonderful years. Whenever they had a disagreement, he would remind her that they couldn't have the peaks without the valleys, the rainbows without the rain. Together they had 3 amazing children, Katherine Fisher, Alison McCann (Sean) and Kevin Fisher(Mallory). He was Pappy to two grandchildren, Cole and Myla. His family meant the world to him and of course each of them thought they were Dad's favorite.
Alan joined the Navy at the ripe old age of seventeen. After he completed his service, he started a long career as a glazier, retiring from Local DC 35 in 2018. When his children started playing sports, he took a break from working in Boston and started his own business so he could be more active in their lives.
The greatest joy, besides his family, was being out in the great outdoors with his trusty companion Shilo. He was an avid fly fisherman. Whenever and wherever he went on vacation, the fly rod had to come. He also enjoyed hiking, hunting, biking, camping and just tooling around Lake Massabesic in his boat. He passed this love of the outdoors on to his children, who often joined him on his adventures. He was a simple man of simple pleasures.
People were always amazed that Alan seemed to know every back road and scenic byway in New Hampshire. A natural wanderer, getting places was all about the journey, not the destination. When we got in the car for an afternoon ride, we always had to make sure we had a full tank of gas!! Alan was also the man of one liners, always the joker and the prankster. The one liners poured out of him effortlessly, often cracking himself up. His wife often referred to him as her fourth child for this very reason.
Along with his children and grandchildren, he is survived by two brothers, David Fisher and Brian Fisher and one sister, Ann Webster as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parent, his sister Joyce and his brother Tom.
Please join us Saturday, January 17th at 2:30 at Belmont Hall in Manchester, NH to celebrate a life well lived.
