Alan Joseph LaBranche

Alan Joseph LaBranche, 76, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at The Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

He was born on August 29, 1948, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Claude and Eleanor (Arbour) LaBranche.

Alan was the beloved husband of Nancy Lucci. They were married on July 19, 2009, in Portsmouth, NH, and shared many joyful years together.

A proud graduate of Boston College, Alan worked in a variety of fields before discovering his true calling as a teacher. He spent many meaningful years inspiring, and being inspired by, students at Londonderry High School and McKelvie Intermediate School. In addition to his dedication to education, he honorably served in the Army National Guard for twenty years.

Above all, Alan cherished his role as a father. He grew up in Methuen, MA, and lived most of his adult life in Southern New Hampshire, most recently in Manchester.

Alan was a thoughtful and curious soul. He was an avid reader, especially drawn to the teachings of Don Miguel Ruiz, and often shared extra copies of The Four Agreements with those he cared about. His deep sense of spirituality was a guiding force in his life, and he approached the world with a gentle heart and an open mind.

He found joy in simple pleasures: running 5Ks with Millennium Running, collecting crystals, and participating in camping and game nights which led to cherished, lifelong friendships.

Alan was predeceased by his brother, Neil LaBranche.

He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to carry his spirit forward: his wife, Nancy Lucci; his daughters, Eleanor Croteau LaBranche and her husband Matt Croteau, and Julian LaBranche and her husband Conner Hinrichs; his stepchildren, Eric Lucci and his wife Laura Carter, and Marissa Lucci; his cherished granddaughter, Cora Croteau; his siblings, Brett (Wendy) LaBranche, Brian LaBranche, Gary (Sharon) LaBranche, Kevin LaBranche, and Joyce (Rick) Loszewski; along with many adored nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 4:00–6:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium in Manchester, NH. Alan will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
