Alan Edward Sidney, 80, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at Cedar Healthcare in Portsmouth, NH, just shy of his next birthday.
Born December 6, 1944, in Bloomfield, CT, Alan was the youngest son of Earl Sidney Sr. and Elsie Sidney (née Peterson). He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Hartford and went on to a successful career as the Regional Sales Manager for Fort Wayne Wire Die.
Alan lived a full and vibrant life. He was an avid skier, hiker, sailor, and a member of the Massabesic Yacht Club. He enjoyed playing pool, caring for his beloved dog and cats, and hosting gatherings at his home. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Concord. Known for his warmth and generosity, he loved entertaining family and friends, often in the basement he proudly refinished himself. Alan cherished his decades in Weare, NH, where he embraced the country life and community he held dear.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Sidney; his children Allison Sidney, and Karen Galarneau (husband Michael); his stepchildren Todd Cartwright (wife Keumai), and Terri Urhausen (husband Jack); his grandchildren Danielle Castonguay (husband Colton), Megan Merrick (husband Case), Valerie Galarneau, and Toby Sidney; and his step-grandchildren Paul Cartwright (wife Lydia, daughter Hazel, son Russell), Sara Bozich (husband Cameron, son William), Peter Cartwright, and David Urhausen. He was predeceased by his older brother, Earl Sidney Jr.
In accordance with his wishes, the family will hold a private graveside ceremony at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover, NH. A private gathering for immediate family and close friends will take place in the spring.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Silver Square in Dover, Cedar Healthcare in Portsmouth, and Constellation Hospice of Newburyport for their compassion and support.
Alan will be remembered for his love of family, his welcoming spirit, and the joy he found in his home and community.
