Albert A. Martel

Albert Martel, 72, of 14 Huckins Drive in Newmarket died on July 2, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester after an extended illness. Mr. Martel was born on February 16, 1930 in Sanford, Maine the son of the late Ulrick and Cecirie (Bernier) Martel. He was a US Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a barber by trade and owned Martel's Barber Shop on Main Street in Sanford where he worked for over 20 years. Family members include; his wife of 47 years, Rachel (Caron) Martel; three sons, Leonard Martel of Sanford, ME, Lawrence Martel of Alfred, ME and Ronald Martel of Newmarket, NH; three daughters, Jinette Sturman of Durham, NH, Joanne Thompson of Pennsylvania and Lisa Martel of Newmarket, NH; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Armand Martel of Rhode Island and Henry Martel of Rochester, NH; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 6th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 182 Main Street in Newmarket.
