Albert Eugene Petitt, 92, of Laconia NH, died at his home on Nov. 30, 2017. Al was born in Willoughby, Ohio, the only son to the late Norman and Theresa Petitt. He graduated from Xavier University and married the love of his life, Katherine Anne Van Deusen in 1950. They were married for 56 years until her passing in 2007.
Al and Kay were blessed with 11 children, and raised their family together in Caldwell, NJ. Al was a leader in management consulting and retired as the President of the NJ Industrial Management Association in 1990. The Petitt's then moved to NH, where Al enjoyed boating and relaxing on Lake Winnipesaukee with Kay and their many welcome visitors. While in NH, Al served as Director of the NH Machining Association, and later as an area representative for Shamrock Corp.
Al was a devout Catholic who enjoyed following politics and having philosophical chats over martinis with friends and family. He loved taking his boat out for sunset cruises on the lake, and "putzing around" in his workshop. Al and Kay shared many happy years on Cascade Terrace in Alton Bay, and later at South Down Shores in Laconia. After Kay's passing, Al resided at Taylor Community where he served on several committees and enjoyed many special friendships. He had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and an endearing spirit that attracted adoring fans wherever he went.
Al was predeceased by his beloved wife Kay; his dear cousin Eileen; and four of his children: Mark, Danny, Ellen and Barbara.
He is survived by his children Andy (Adrianne) of Bladenboro NC, Susan (Guy) of Brentwood NH, Christine of Clifton NJ, Laura of Davis CA, Amy (Scott) of Mt. Prospect IL, Jean (John) of Cape Neddick, ME, and Alan (Jen) of NYC. He will be dearly missed by his nephew Bob Troop, wife Cyndi, their children Corrie and Megan and their families, with whom he shared many happy times on the lake. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who were truly his pride and joy.
A service will be held by the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, at Sacred Heart Church in Laconia on Friday Dec 15th at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice.
