Alberta Morrison Fleury, 88, of Pembroke died April 13, 2004 at Integrated Health Services in Manchester following lengthy illness. She was born on February 26, 1916 in Kingfield, Maine the daughter of the late Oscar and Vera (Barry) Morrison. Mrs. Fleury graduated from Stanley High School in Kingfield, Maine and attended Farmington Normal School. She later went on to receive her Nursing Degree from Mass. General Hospital. Mrs. Fleury was a private duty nurse for Cooley Dickenson Hospital in Northampton, MA. She spent a lifetime devoted to raising and racing standard bred horses in Maine, NH, MA and NY race tracks. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Fleury who died in 1971 and by her brother, the pharmacist, Fred L. Morrison in 1963 and by one sister, Lieutenant Commander Nelly E. Morrison, retired USN. Family members include; one niece, Jean Morrison-Strollo and her husband, Anthony Strollo of Pembroke, NH; one great niece, with whom she spent her summers, Kara Niemi of Carrabassett Valley, Maine; her sister-in-law, Dorothy W. Morrison of Portland, Maine; two nephews, and great nieces and nephews She also leaves behind her special friends, Peb, her horse and Linda and Speed, her beloved cats. There will be a graveside service on Monday, April 26th at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Cemetery, Route 27 in Kingfield, Maine with Rev. Ronald Meldrum officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Standard Bred Retirement Fund, Saratoga Springs, New York in her name.
