Alberta (Whitehouse) Mountain

Alberta F. Mountain, 89, of Rochester, NH passed away peacefully Tuesday November 21st 2017 at Riverside Rest Home.
Alberta was born September 19, 1928 in Rochester, NH the daughter of Clarence Sr. and Marie Whitehouse.
Alberta grew up in Rochester and attended Rochester school. Upon graduating High school, Alberta worked at Mayberry Shoe and Hubbard Shoe before marrying her love, Roland L. Mountain on July 1st 1950.
Alberta was predeceased by her husband, Roland and her son Richard W. Mountain, as well as two sisters.
Alberta is survived by her daughter, Donna L. Knapper and Donna's significant other, Dana E. Hussey. Grandchildren: Kacey A. Cochrane, Kimberly M. Cochrane, along with their Father; Donald L. Cochrane. Jarek M. Mountain, Kiley E. Henderson and her husband Dana and Kelsey B. Mountain along with their Mother Sue A. Erickson. Great- Grandchildren, Allie M. Mullins, Madeline K. Garrett, Abygail M. Garrett, Espen J.C. Henderson and Bruin M. Henderson. Survivors also include a sister, Juanita Jones and her husband Cleotus, and a brother, Clarence Whitehouse Jr. and wife Betty, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church for 88 years. Alberta worked at Mother Goose and Young World, in addition to JC Penny children's department until her retirement in 2002. Alberta was known for dressing generations of children throughout Rochester. Alberta enjoyed volunteering at the VFW Bingo on Wednesdays and Fridays.
For 17 years Alberta helped run Mountains General Store in Rochester. Alberta was a lifetime associate member of the VFW National Home for Children; she was a member of St. Mary School PTA, she was a 30+ year member of the Rochester Women's Bowling League, she loved gardening, crocheting, and especially taking care of her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday December 1st 2017 at the Briar Ridge Estates Club House/ Function Room, 40 Lilac Drive, Rochester, NH 03867 from 1pm-4pm. Service will begin at 2pm.
