Alden L. Brown

Alden Louis Brown, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at his home in North Haverhill, surrounded by his loving wife, Priscilla Brown, and son, Clinton Brown.

Alden was born in Hartford, Connecticut on September 24, 1944, and was one of 13 siblings. He was a man of strong character—hardworking, self-reliant, and always quick with a story or a laugh. He had a unique way of making others smile, and his humor was infectious. A handshake was his business contract, and he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

Alden dedicated much of his life to his family and community. He worked at Scruggs Hardware for 13 years, followed by 13 years at Stoddard Implement. He also worked at Country Gas and Gary’s Fuel, demonstrating his versatility and commitment. A man of many talents, Alden did whatever was necessary to provide for his family. In 1982, he and his wife, Priscilla, alongside their sons Clinton and Scott, founded their family business, The Green Thumb, where Alden’s passion for hands-on work was evident.

Alden’s hobbies were as varied as his skills. He was an avid restorer of John Deere tractors and antique cars, and he found joy working with his Wood-Mizer Sawmill. He was also the proud founder and first president of the North Haverhill Snowmobile Club and volunteered for 10 years on the North Haverhill Fire Department.

Alden proudly served his country for 7 years in the National Guard and later worked as a driver for Clough Transportation, serving his local community with dedication and kindness.

He was predeceased by his son, Scott Brown, on April 7, 2024. Alden leaves behind his beloved wife, Priscilla; his son, Clinton Brown, and his wife, Leslie Walker; and four grandchildren: Tyler, Jasmine, Hannah, and Gabrielle Brown.

Alden's life was a testament to his love for his family, his work, and his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be a family only gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency: 536 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
