Alexander M. Garrett

Alexander Matthew Garrett, best known as Alex or Ally cat, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 26th, 2025. Born on January 26th, 1994 to Beth Booth and Matthew Garrett, Alex was just 31 years old. He lived the majority of his life in Farmington NH, where he graduated high school in 2012.

His coworkers, who he considered family, would say he was fiercely hard working with a tireless work ethic, showing up early and always willing to stay late.

He found joy in many forms, hiking, fishing, catching frogs in the pond, biking and wheelie popping. He was always happiest spending time with those he loved. Whether immersed in nature or simply playing video games, Alex felt most at home when he could be himself. His eccentric taste in clothes and jewelry was unmistakably his- bold, expressive, and entirely original.

With a childlike curiosity and love for the natural world, his pockets often held treasures such as delicate feathers, seashells, and all kinds of rocks and stones. That same curiosity led him to dig beneath the surface, quite literally, spending hours unearthing old bottles, forgotten relics, and pieces of the past. Each one a story waiting to be rediscovered.

Adventurous, he moved through life with an energetic boldness that often led to mischief. He had little patience for rules and even less interest in convention, choosing to live freely, on his own terms. A wild heart and a spark that couldn’t be tamed.

Alex is survived by his parents, grandparents: Gary and Valerie Garrett, Patti and Kenneth McMullen. Aunts: Carrie and Sara, sisters: Briana, Kyley, Madalyn, Alexus, his brother Max, Step parents Katie and Ryan. Alex had many great aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved him very much.

There will be no formal services planned, but a celebration of life to be announced at a later time.

Donations in Alex’s name can be made to:

Cross Roads House

600 Lafayette Rd

Portsmouth, NH 03801

Alex will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
