Alfred J.M. Bouchard

MGySgt. Alfred J.M. Bouchard, USMC (Ret.), passed away peacefully on his 79th birthday, June 18, 2014, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. He was born on June 18, 1935 in Goffstown, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred J. Bouchard (Alice Perreault). After graduating from Bishop Bradley High in 1953, he later that same year married Lucille G. Pinsonneault and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving honorably for 28 years.

A veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War, he was stationed in many states with his family, including Hawaii. Alfred especially loved Hawaii and its people. He also served overseas in Japan, attended many military schools and received numerous medals and ribbons. Throughout his whole life he was proud to have served his country, most recently by volunteering at the VA Hospital in The Villages helping fellow veterans.

Retiring from the military in 1981, Alfred began a second career as the Food Service Director in Londonderry, until his final retirement 15 years later in 1996. In 1997 he and Lucille moved to Maui, Hawaii near their two adult children and their families. In 2010 they relocated to The Villages, Florida, where his greatest joy was driving his golf cart everywhere. They spent their summers in New Hampshire every year with family. He was a life member of the Catholic War Veterans, the Rev. Louis A. Ramsey Post 1624 and the Disabled American Veterans, Manchester, NH Chapter #1.

Family members include; his wife of 60 years, Lucille; brother, Roland J. Bouchard of Manchester; sister, Doris M. Guimont of Bedford; cousin, MSgt. (USMC Ret.) Lucien Martel & wife Nancy of Manchester; three children, Dr. Michael R. Bouchard & wife Noelani of Hawaii, Cheryl A. Banker & husband Robert of Manchester, and Steven D. Bouchard & wife Jocelyn of Hawaii; and three grandchildren, Robin M. Pinard & husband David of Manchester, Kevin R. Banker & fiancée Kaleigh Heinhold of Dorchester, MA and Ian K. Bouchard of Hawaii; numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred was eagerly looking forward to becoming a great-grandfather to Jacob A. Pinard this September.

He will forever be cherished by his family. As someone once wisely observed: You can't take the pain out of love unless you take the love out of Life.

His Memorial Service will take place at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Monday, June 30th in the Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30 am. Military Honors and urn interment will follow, taking place in the Chapel at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen at 12:30 pm.
