Alfred Miller, 81, known as, Al, to his friends, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at his home in (Devens) Harvard, Massachusetts after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Raylene Miller; his children Anita Miller-Sackman and Holly Miller; grandchildren Asia Miller, Bodhi Sackman, and Wehnonah Miller-Sackman; great grandchild Arsen Defrancesco; surviving several nieces and nephews and a brother Edward Miller.
Alfred is predeceased by his father Alfred Miller, mother Barbara Kavolius, and sisters Carol Muzzey and Linda Hutton.
Alfred was a Navy Veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis serving from November 1959 to November 1963. He served in the Navy Reserves from November 1963 through 1965. Beginning in 1963, he worked as a draftsman at Electric Boat General Dynamics for nineteen years in Groton, Connecticut. After retiring from Electric Boat General Dynamics, Alfred drove a school bus for the Kuzmeskus Bus Company. He also performed custodial work for New Salem, Northfield, and Shutesbury School Districts as well as the Wendell Town Hall.
Alfred fully enjoyed life. No matter what health issues confronted him, he was always jovial and had a smile on his face. He enjoyed working on Volkswagen cars, putting model airplanes together and flying them, gardening, playing the guitar, riding his motorcycle, and fishing.
Burial will be private and take place at the convenience of the family.
