Alice Basoukas, 74, of Manchester died Friday, August 1, 2003 at Catholic Medical Center following a lengthy bout with cancer. Mrs. Basoukas was born on April 15, 1929 in Manchester the daughter of the late Jeannette Nadeau. She attended local schools and later moved to Lewiston, Maine where she completed her higher education. She wrote her thesis on Legalities and was one of the 1st Certified Travel Consultants in New Hampshire. Once returning to New Hampshire she opened Great Adventures Travel in Salem which she operated for 17 years. She and her husband spent winters in Puerto Rico where she was devoted to many woman's organizations. Family members include; her husband of 54 years, Frank Basoukas; three sons, Gary Basoukas of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Darren and his wife Kathy (Statires) Basoukas of Bedford and Scott Basoukas of Manchester; three grandchildren, Sarabeth and Alex Basoukas both of Goffstown and Kyle Basoukas of Bedford. She was predeceased by one grandson, Jason. A Memorial Reception will be held on Tuesday, August 5th from 2:00 until 3:00 with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire Chapel, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester.
