Alice Patricia Goguen

Alice P. (Swett) Goguen, 73, passed away unexpectedly at home on May 16, 2025. Born on February 9, 1952, in Lynn, MA, to Florence and Edwin Swett, Alice was a mother, wife, sister, grandmother, auntie and friend to many. Anyone who knew Alice knew that she had a way of making every person in her life feel important. Alice was a great listener, her kind smile was so welcoming and she always gave her undivided attention to whomever she was talking to. Alice was a collector, her homes filled with mementos and treasures. She had a knack for sharing a special item that was perfect for the recipient. Alice’s mind was always on giving to others.

Alice loved to sew and crochet and many people have the gifts of her labors. She made a mean pistachio mousse and is known far and wide for her Dorito Taco Salad. Her favorite thing to do was to stamp and create homemade cards. Alice was one of the last great pen pals. She sent cards to many for a variety of occasions, but the best ones were just to say hello and tell you she was thinking of you. She had numerous pen pal relationships, even with people she saw frequently, like her granddaughter, Darby. Another highlight for Alice was her “Club”. She and her friends, Pat, Cathy, and Judy have been friends for over 50 years. In their younger days, they met weekly for lunch and as their kids grew up their meetings changed to weekly evenings of wine and dessert. Most recently they would meet for dinner as often as they were able.

Alice’s happy place was Hedding Campground. She spent her summers at her cottage with the big windows wide open so that she could feel the summer breezes. At Hedding, Alice was surrounded by her family as well as countless friends, many of whom she had known for more than 50 years. She was a big part of the community, participating in the Ladies Auxiliary as well as other organizations and events, including the annual street fair and church on Sundays. Everyone at Hedding could always count on a warm greeting from Alice and her cottage door was always open for a visit.

Of all her treasures, the one she valued most was her family. Alice was fortunate to live close to her children and grandchildren and was in her glory when she was able to spend time with them. Whether it was a big Christmas celebration, a meal out, going to her grandchildren’s sports and school events, a trip to visit her sister in California or a backyard barbeque, Alice was always happiest when she was a part of those moments. She was able to enjoy one of those special times on Mother’s Day at a lunch out with her 2 children, Dannielle and Tommy, where lots of laughter accompanied her meal.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Edwin Swett and her brothers David, Ed and Rick Swett. She is survived by her devoted husband, Chester Goguen; her loving children, daughter Dannielle Dwyer and her husband Will Pecoraro and her son Tom Dwyer, Jr. and his wife, Tracy; her beloved grandchildren, Jake (Sammi) Holmes ; Shannon (Adam) Andersen, Tom Dwyer III, Darby Dwyer (fiance, William), Brady Dwyer; two great grandchildren, Kinsley and Mackenzie Holmes; and sisters, Susan (Dave) Senecal and Pamela (Larry) Azarva and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held this summer at Hedding Campground in Epping, NH.

In lieu of flowers, Alice’s family requests that donations be made in her name to Hedding Day Camp, PO Box 433, Epping, NH 03042.
