Alice May Head

Alice May (Gibbs) Head, 88, of Ashland, NH died Saturday, May 5th following a brief illness. She was the last of 7 siblings to pass away.

Alice was born in Saugus, MA on December 7, 1929 to Edward Jr. and Blanche (Petts) Gibbs. She was a graduate of Saugus High school and received her nursing degree from Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett, MA. She spent many years as a Registered Nurse with Taunton State Hospital and Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA, and later with Concord Hospital and OB/GYN Unlimited Birthing Center, which was owned by the late Dr. Gerald Hamilton and her dear friend, Christine Kuhlman. Alice was a former member of the Emblem Club in Concord and an active member in the Concord chapter of Women of the Moose. She also spent much of her time helping her husband at the family's antique store, Serendipity Antiques. Alice deeply enjoyed knitting and doing crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was time spent with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sweet little kitty, Bubbles.

Alice is survived by her children, Kenneth E. Head and wife, Karen, of Epsom, Robert M Head Jr. and significant other, Lynne, of Raymond, Holly S. Clark and husband, James, of Chichester, Leslie A. Eaton and significant other, Stephen Lake, of Ashland, and Heather L. Kathan and significant other, Ron Jackson, of Newton; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Head Sr. in 2005 and her daughter, Caroline Head in 2009, as well as five brothers and one sister.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, May 19th 3:00-7:00pm, at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (C.H.a.D) online at www.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/donate/chad or to the Littleton Lions Club at PO Box 104, Littleton, NH 03561.
