Alice L. (Murray) Sims, 92, a lifelong resident of Penacook, died September 25, 2008 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen. She was born on July 11, 1916 in Penacook, the daughter of the late Lester Edward and Cora Alice (Runnells) Murray. Alice graduated from Concord High School, class of 1933. She also attended Lakeland Business College in Lakeland, FL. She was married to W. Russell Sims on July 31, 1939 in Boonton, NJ. Alice worked as a secretary for the Senior Employment Services and for Lockwood Young Concrete Company both of Concord. She also had worked for Hoyt Electric Company, AARP, NRTA Work Program. She was a member of the West Congregational Church in Concord for many years and the Riverhill Grange. Alice enjoyed rocks and minerals, NH covered bridges, lighthouses and knitting. She was also an active volunteer in the community. Surviving family members include her two sons, Everett Sims and his wife Linda of Concord and Robert Sims and his wife Mary of Manheim, PA; a daughter, Jane D'Amico and her husband John of Quincy, MA; 3 sisters, Eleanor Lacoy of Penacook, Laura Jobin of Contoocook and Ida Tribou of Buckfield, ME; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, W. Russell Sims, who died in 1988, her brother, Jesse Murray, who died in 2005, her sisters, Ruth Murray and Kathleen Colby and her granddaughter, Jessica Sims. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday October 10th at 11:00AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook.
