Allan G Holmes

Allan “Joe” G. Holmes died at home on 23 May 2022. He was preceded by his wife of 65 years, Nona C. Woodward in 2017. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Emery and Lola (Bartlett) Holmes and his sisters: Helen Sherman, Pauline Clark, Frances Wallace and Harriett Black. He was born January 30, 1928 in Northwood and is survived by 4 children: Deborah Ward of Northwood, NH; Fred (Sheila) Holmes of Strafford, NH; Pamela (Stian) Wood of Meridian, ID; and Craig (John) Holmes of San Diego, CA; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

As a young man, he was gone all week drilling wells all over the state. Later, he was a licensed Master Electrician and Master Plummer. A lifelong Northwood native, he contributed time and energy to the town. He was a Northwood School Board member and a member of the Northwood Budget Committee, also a life long member of VFW Post 7217 and the Odd Fellows. He often volunteered to take those needed to medical appointments, and checked on neighbors and townspeople who he knew needed a word or random help.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 6, 2022 at the Advent Christian Church, School St, Northwood, NH.
