Allen L. Armirotto, 69, of Bedford, died surrounded by his loved ones on February 2, 2004, at Community Hospice in Merrimack. He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on August 2, 1934. "Al" enlisted in the Navy after high school and served honorably for 4 years as a flight mechanic. He was shot down several times while flying missions over North Korea, once floating for days in the Sea of Japan before being rescued by a Japanese fishing boat. After military service, he married the former Marjorie Green of Saugus, MA, and embarked on a successful career in the semi-conductor industry. He a pioneer in much of the early chemical research and development of the modern computer chip. After retiring from the semi-conductor industry in the late 1980's, he began a second career as the owner of The Little Professor Bookstore, in Dover, New Hampshire, which he ran with his daughter Linda J. Armirotto for nearly ten years. Al had a lifelong love of flying, sailing, skeet shooting, and fishing. He wonderful gifts as a storyteller and witty conversationalist will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Bedford, NH; his daughter, Lana J. Armirotto and her son Alex B. Armirotto, of Nottingham, NH; his daughter, Linda J. Armirotto, son-in-law D. Lance Tillinghast and their sons Aaron R. Tillinghast and Zane A Tillinghast of Barrington, NH; and his son, Allen S. Armirotto, of Somerville, MA. There will be no calling hours. Friends wishing to celebrate Al's life are invited to join the family at the home of Linda J.
