Allen D. Reedy

Known as Dale to his friends, Allen D. Reedy died Saturday, November 16 after a short illness at Hospice House in Concord, New Hampshire. Born in Tacoma, Washington in 1912, Dale Reedy graduated from Stadium High school in Tacoma and received his BA in mathematics from Stanford University in California. He taught high school mathematics in California. In 1938 when he married his wife Ernestine Paschke Reedy, a newspaper editor in Ontario, California, he was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps stationed at March Field. In 1939 Reedy went to work for the fledgling airline, Pan American. At that time the airline industry was new, and the crews were breaking new ground in the field of aviation with nearly every trip. Among other "firsts," Dale Reedy was navigator on the first instrument approach into Mexico City. Reedy took early retirement and he and his wife Ernestine lived for over thirty years in Hillsborough where Reedy was for many years active in the Conversation Commission. His wife Ernestine predeceased him by two years. Grieving survivors include his daughter Martha Child of Wilton, NH, his daughter Susan Schnur of Islesboro, ME, and his sister Lorna Follensbee of Concord NH. Also surviving are his five grandchildren Becky Schnur of ME, Christopher and Steven Child of New Hampshire, Matthew Child of Virginia, and Michael Schnur of MA. The Reedys had six great grand daughters, Talia, Elizabeth, Alison, Kelsey, Rhiannon, and Ava. In lieu of flowers, survivors request that donations be sent either to Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA, 31709, USA. Or to The Hillsborough Rescue Squad, PO Box 7, Hillsborough, NH 03244.
