Almira Parker

Almira Ann Parker, age 80, of West Mifflin, PA, passed away on March 19, 2022. She was born on December 10, 1941, in West Mifflin, PA, daughter of Eugene and Margaret Parker (Plantz), the middle of four children.

She graduated from Homestead high school. Soon after, she attended flight attendant school in Kansas City, Missouri.

She married Leonard Grega on August 22, 1964. They moved to Madison, WI since Len was hired with Northwest Airlines. They raised a family and enjoyed camping trips throughout the state of Wisconsin. One of the family favorites was swimming and cookouts at Devil’s Lake State Park.

Almira loved her adventures. She biked across the San Francisco Bridge, boogie boarded with her son in Maui and paddle boarded with her daughter in Honolulu. Exploring National Parks was always on the top of her list. She loved to garden and enjoyed looking for new plants at the local garden centers. When she had time to relax, she would be reading a book with a hot cup of tea.

With her gentle spirit, Almira touched many lives and made a difference. When looking through photos, she was always there for you. She was a care giver for her Uncle Des and mother until the end of their lives. In her later years, Almira “Grandma” appreciated every moment with her granddaughters. She described a moment when looking out the window and being able to watch Helen and Autumn ice skate in the back yard.  Grandma was also known for her Christmas tree decorated for all the holidays throughout the year.

Almira was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2021. She stayed optimistic through chemo treatments and never gave up.

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Aspen Sereff (Chuck) of Westminster, CO; son, Chris Grega (Christine) of Deerfield, NH; two grandchildren, Helen and Autumn; brother, Eugene Parker of Florida; Don Brookshire, dear friend; and loyal canines Annie and Murphy.

A memorial service will be held in West Mifflin, PA for the immediate family. Time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, her wishes were for donations to be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation www.bcrf.org. or to the Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester. To view Almira's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
