Almy G. Rowson, 87, of 19 Overland Street, Laconia, NH died on July 30, 2001 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Rowson was born on October 23, 1913 in Fall River, MA the daughter of the late Alexander and Mabel (Shovelton) Phillips. She graduated from New Bedford High School in 1931 and then attended Truesdale School of Nursing in Fall River, MA where she graduated in 1935. She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years doing mostly private duty in the New Bedford area. Mrs. Rowson was a member of the Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Woman's Club and was extremely active in other church activities. She enjoyed spending her summers at Lake Shore Park in Gilford which she did for many years. Mrs. Rowson had been a resident of Laconia since 1996. Family members include; two sons, J. David Rowson of Laconia and Allen P. Rowson of Gilford; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Phillips of White River Junction, VT; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Rowson in March of 1997. There will be a Memorial Service on September 8th at 11:00 AM at Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church on Main Street in Acushnet, MA.
