Alton Winslow Hayward, age 91, died peacefully at Wolfeboro Bay Center on September 23, 2024.
Born May 17,1933 in Stoneham, Mass. to Alexander Hayward and Edna (Tracy) Hayward.
When Alton was young, they moved to Farmington, NH where he graduated in 1950. He then served 4 years in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War.
Throughout his life Alton worked numerous full time and part time jobs to support his family.
In 1988, he retired from the US Postal Service after serving 28 years as a letter carrier in Farmington, NH.
Alton was a member of the Masons for 62 years, the American Legion, the Congregational Church and the Farmington Fire Department during his lifetime. He was also an officer of the National Association of Letter Carriers and President of Branch 2822.
He was a true outdoors man enjoying fishing, boating, hunting and snowmobiling to name a few. At one time he served as the Constable of Fisherville, an ice fishing village in Wolfeboro. He was also a sports enthusiast who saw the Boston teams win numerous championships.
Alton was a good father who loved and supported his family. He attended school and sports activities and supported his children’s interests including school sports, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling etc. He was committed to giving his family a good life and we are proud to have had him as our father.
