ALZIE LEE FISHER Sunrise: 2/6/21 Sunset: 1/3/04 Alzie Lee Fisher, 82 of 145 Dennett Road, Kittery, was called home to eternal glory on January 3, 2004 after a period of declining health. He was predeceased by Anna Catherine, his devoted wife of over 55 years, in April 2002. Alzie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Celestyne and Eugene Bragg of Kittery; a son Richard Earl Fisher of Pemberton, New Jersey, three grandsons Andre' Bragg of Kittery, Lance Fisher of Danville, VA and William Fisher of Pemberton, New Jersey. He also leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Rick Wash of Braintree, Mass., along with four granddaughters, Lorick, Catherine, Amelia and Stephanie. Mr. Fisher was born February 6, 1921 in Forney Texas to Dennis and Louisa (Black) Fisher. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, James Earl, Gaines and Lemon as well as his only sister Pearlie May, all of Dallas. He is survived by two brothers the Reverends Lee Roy and Bufford Fisher and a sister-in-law Sophie, all of Dallas as well as many nieces and nephews, but those who held a special place in his heart and always kept him in their prayers were, Dennis, Eldridge, Thelma, Elnora, Mary, Marie, Sharon, Mitchell, LaMitra, Dario and Alisha. He was a reserved man who resided in Kittery for over 45 years. Mr. Fisher was retired from the U.S Navy having proudly served his country for over 22 years. He was also a civil service retiree having worked at both the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and the Pease AFB Commissary. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, working in his yard and going to church until his health declined. Those who knew him can remember how much joy he had in caring for his apple and peach trees and how he loved to talk about them. He was a member of Frank E. Booma Post American Legion and a proud disciple of New Hope Baptist Church.Alzie looked forward to every Sunday when he could fellowship with his Church Family at New Hope. He much appreciated their prayers and visits along with the cards and flowers sent to him by his Pastor and Church Family over the past months. It was his desire that those who wish to remember him keep in their memory his always ready smile and the 'better days' he had. His family prays that they also keep in mind 2 Corinthians 1:9, "Indeed in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." It is the family's request that all cards and flowers be omitted, it is their wish that you take that time to tell those you love that you love them, for we know not what tomorrow will bring. (Service will be private and a Celebration of Life Prayer will be held in Dallas in the upcoming weeks at the church his father built and his brothers are currently assistant pastors at, Evening Star Baptist of Dallas.
