Anne Mastin Egner, age 90, of Hanover, NH, died at her home on Thursday, November 26, 2020 following an extended illness.
She grew up in Midland Park, NJ, the oldest of five children, plus three older half siblings. She had a very happy childhood.
After attending the local public schools, she attended Lasell College, near Boston, and attained an Associate Degree of Arts. She worked for five years in New York City as an interior decorator. She then spent a year living and working in Denver, Colorado. She returned to N.J. and married Robert J. Egner in 1956. They settled in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, and had four children. For years thereafter her main career was as a wife and mother.
She also worked for many years part-time as a dental assistant. She was an active member of the Ridgewood, NJ, United Methodist Church, and of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and loved to host gatherings of family and friends.
After 41 years of marriage, her husband Bob died very suddenly in 1997 at age 69 due to cardiac arrest. In 2003, she moved to Kendal at Hanover, in New Hampshire, and has lived there ever since. Once again she became very active in the Norwich Congregational Church, in various activities at Kendal, and in other community volunteer activities.
Anne is survived by four children: Nancy of Hillsborough, NH; Carl of Chicago, IL: Corinne of Hopewell, NJ: and Bruce of Hillsborough, NH. She has five grandchildren: Emma, Erika, Sarah, Daniel, and Meredith. She has three surviving siblings: Mary of North Andover, MA; Benjamin of Craftsbury, VT; and Douglas of Newtown, PA; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family. She was pre-deceased by her brother Donald, of Hawthorne, NJ.
She will be cremated and interred next to her husband at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ at a future date. A Celebration of Life service will be organized at a future time.
