Anya Marie Daly went to be with Jesus Monday morning, January 26, 2026. Anya was born June 11, 1979, at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Anya’s first couple of years were spent in foster care. In May of 1983, she came to live with Eileen and Ben Daly, Anna, Matthew, and Michael in Enfield, Connecticut. In February 1986, Anya was adopted.
In January 1988, Anya and her family moved to Haverhill, New Hampshire. She attended JR Morrill Elementary School, Woodsville Elementary School, Haverhill Middle School, and Woodsville High School. When she was in second grade, she was among the first individuals with a developmental disability to be mainstreamed into a classroom. She led the way for many people with disabilities to be mainstreamed.
Upon graduation from high school, Anya received services through Common Ground of Woodsville, New Hampshire. One of those services was residential. She went to live with Jessica Brooks and her family in Woodsville, New Hampshire, for 16 years. She held several part-time jobs over the years, her favorite being working at Northern Charms Salon in Littleton, New Hampshire. Above all things, Anya loved Jesus. She was baptized at the Big Eddy. She loved church and loved worshipping with hands held high.
Anya loved participating in Special Olympics, winning many medals. She looked forward every summer to attending Silver Towers Camp in Ripton, Vermont, for two weeks. She loved participating in all the camp activities and wanting to be the center of attention. She loved and was loved by everyone. She made many close and lasting relationships over the years. Cross-country skiing, bowling, and bingo were among her favorite activities.
In June of 2022, for a few months, she went to live with Dottie and Bob Whitcher in North Haverhill, New Hampshire. After a short stay at home, Anya went to live with Karen Smith in West Thompson, Vermont. She was welcomed with open arms and loved living with Karen and her family. We would like to thank all those who welcomed Anya into their lives, especially Jessica Brooks; Dottie and Bob Whitcher; and Karen Smith. Your love and compassion were greatly appreciated.
A special thanks to Anya’s case manager, Billy Jo Kimber, and all the staff at Common Ground—especially her buddies, Tanya and Melissa— for all you did in supporting Anya over the years. God bless you all.
Anya is survived by her parents, Eileen and Ben Daly; her sister, Anna Mackay (Shane); her brothers, Matthew Daly and Michael Daly; her nephews, Andrew Daly, Ian Daly, and Maitland Mackay; her girls (nieces), Emma Daly Green (Billy) and Maggie Daly; and her great-nieces, Peyton Green, Sophie Green, and Hazel Carbee. She is predeceased by her sister-in-law, Carrie Daly.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the Emergency Room, 2 South, ICU, and Palliative Care at Central Vermont Hospital for their support, care, and compassion during these past three weeks. We would also like to thank the Cremation Society of New Hampshire for helping with Anya's arrangements. God bless you all.
A celebration of Anya’s life will be held on February 21, 2026, at the Horse Meadow Senior Center in North Haverhill, New Hampshire, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.
Donations to Special Olympics and Palliative Care at Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin, Vermont, in Anya’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
