Arlene Normandie Leech died peacefully on November 2, 2016. She was 91.
Arlene Leech was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 28, 1925 to John and Mabel Normandie. Arlene graduated from Lowell High School and was praised for being a diligent and enthusiastic student. Arlene went on to successfully manage a laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was there she met her husband, John Leech. They married in 1967 and were married for 48 years.
An avid reader and talented stitcher, Arlene was always busy with a project. Though she 'hated' to cook, she made tasty meals and was sure that her home was both welcoming and comfortable to all those who came calling. She had an adventurous spirit that was tempered with the pragmatism of a Yankee. Arlene never missed a birthday and always managed to send a card (addressed in perfectly beautiful script) and have it arrive on exactly the right day.
A consummate New Englander, Arlene was happy to take walks on Plumb Island, anywhere in New England, or simply around her neighborhood in Nashua, New Hampshire. She loved flowers and nature and derived great pleasure from her home. Arlene was courageous and kind and joyful and optimistic.
Arlene was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, John Leech; sister, Betty Tarbox; brother, Jack Normandie; and nephew, John Normandie III.
She is survived by her two step-daughters, Kate Baker-Carr and Harriet Roberts, by one step son-in-law, Stephen Roberts; and one step-grandson, Matthew Roberts.
