Arlene L. Pearson, 87, of Laconia died October 27, 2005 at Belknap County Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born on October 30, 1917 in Center Sandwich she was the daughter of Arthur and Lulu (Sanborn) Thompson. Growing up and throughout her life, Arlene had a passion for farming, her pets and her beautiful gardens. She had her own herd of cattle, raised chickens, sold chicks and her own fresh berries. She was devoted to the farm until she met and married the late Herman W. Pearson. The couple moved to downtown Sandwich where Arlene raised her family while Herman owned and operated the local hardware store. Upon the death of her father, Arlene returned to the family farm and refurbished the farm house. She was a wonderful cook who created everything from homemade pastries to down home cooking. Due to her talents in the kitchen she was a private cook and companion to Rachael P. Franck of Sandwich for 35 years. When Arlene finally did retire in 1995, she moved back into t he farm house with her daughter, Linda. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family and loved the Lord. Family members include; one daughter, Linda J. Pearson of Belmont; one grandson, Christopher M. Krotz of Ashland; three step sons, David Pearson of Ellensburg, WA, Erwin “Bud” Pearson of Fruita, CO and Dana H. Pearson of Center Sandwich; 15 step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. Services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Belknap County Nursing Home, c/o Activities Dept., 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246.
