Arthur E. Barron Arthur Edward Barron, 85, died August 14, 2007 at the New Hampshire Veterans’ Home in Tilton, NH. He was born October 3, 1922 in Lisbon Falls, Maine, the oldest son of Edward C. Barron and Linna M. (Seidel) Barron. In 1941, Barron graduated from Lisbon Falls High School. From 1942 to 1945, Barron served in the U.S. Army. During World War II he participated in operations throughout central Europe, including: England, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes, and Germany. Barron took part in the invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach and was among the first American units to enter Paris, France. He received five Bronze Battle Stars and one Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Barron was discharged from the U.S. Army in October 1945. . On October 14, 1961, he married Constance Dionne of Auburn, Maine. Barron was a long-time resident of Auburn. Barron was a member of the 29th Infantry Division Association. In addition, he was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9459 in Lisbon, Maine and a member of the American Legion, Post 158, also located in Lisbon. Surviving family include his wife of 46 years, Constance D. Barron, who now resides in Concord, NH and his daughter, Martha L. Barron, a son in law, John Greenwood, and two grandchildren, Margaret and Benjamin Arthur, all of Bradford, NH. Additional survivors include a sister, Nathalie Johnson, of Orleans, MA; a sister and brother in law, Arlene and Charles Siletti, of Owls Head, ME; and a brother and sister in law, Lawrence and Doryce Barron, of Durham, ME; as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, September 6 at the Crosman Funeral Home in Lisbon Falls, ME. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Arthur E. Barron Scholarship Fund (benefiting Lisbon High School students) c/o Anita Guay, Lisbon Community Credit Union, PO Box 878, Lisbon, ME 04250-0878.
