Arthur J. (Jimmy) Coen, 79 of Nokomis, Florida and Gilford, New Hampshire passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the Lakes Region General Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born April 5, 1926 in Franklin, New Hampshire and was one of ten children of the late Scott A. and Eva Marie Beaupre Coen. Jimmy attended St. Marys Parochial School in Franklin, New Hampshire. He graduated from Franklin High School in the class of 1945 and attended the Tilton School for Boys in 1946-47. He was a prominent football player in both Franklin High School and the Tilton School for Boys. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honored for his bravery in saving the life of a comrade during battle. He received a World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal. He worked as a salesman for Cote Brothers and Weeks Dairy in Laconia, New Hampshire for many years and for Elkins Coffee in Bow, New Hampshire until he retired in 1981. Jimmy was an avid sports fan, especially for the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He rejoiced when the Boston Red Sox won the Pennant last year for the first time in his lifetime. For him it was a dream come true. He was jubilant when the New England Patriots became a dynasty last year when they again won the super bowl--an event he and his children got together for every year. He enjoyed bowling, and he and his wife were long-time members of the Nokomis Bowling League, in Nokomis, Florida for many years. Jim and Joan also enjoyed traveling with friends and visited places including Alaska, Hawaii, Ireland, and Bon Aire. He is survived by his wife, Joan LaRoche Robinette Coen, four step-children, Michael Robinette and his wife Muriel of Gilmanton I.W., New Hampshire, Kathy Peterson and husband Scott of Falcon Colorado, Linda Kenny and husband Tim of Woodsville, New Hampshire, Dale Wilde and partner Valerie Giguere of Wells, Maine, and nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Irene Cox and their four children, James Coen and his wife Kimberly of Simsbury, Connecticut, Daniel Coen and his wife Melissa of Scituate, Massachusetts, Michael Coen of Venice, Florida, Peggy Sue Gravlin and her husband Randall of Topsfield, Massachusetts, and six grandchildren. Survivors also include two sisters, Elaine T. Coen and June MacKenzie of Sarasota, Florida and his brother Kenneth L. Coen of Venice, Florida. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Bilodeau of West Palm Beach, Florida, and five brothers, Scott Coen of Contoocook, New Hampshire, Paul Coen of Franklin, New Hampshire and Holiday, Florida, Thomas Coen of Brooksfield, Florida, William Coen of Jonsen Bek Florida, and Harry Coen of Holiday Florida, and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held Friday September 2, 2005 at 10 am at St. Paul's Church in Franklin, New Hampshire, followed by a burial at Holy Cross Cemetery also in Franklin.
