Arthur, “Foris” Dupont, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2022. He was born to Arthur and Beatrice Dupont on April 12, 1950. After graduating from Berlin High School, he attended Tufts University.
His family will remember that, in his youth, some of his greatest pleasures at Cedar Pond were fishing and water skiing; he excelled at both. He also loved the camaraderie when competing against his nephews in basketball at Brown School. In recent years he enjoyed his time at the White Mountain Community College library, teaching himself computer skills and doing research. He was always abreast of current events and even followed Florida politics which made for lively discussions.
Arthur was mentored in the studying of the Holy Scriptures, which he loved to discuss, and from which he received great comfort. Attending Mass strengthened him, and he looked forward to following the disciplines of Lent each year.
Many witnessed his struggle with mental illness, but the Berlin Community offered him the kindness and support he needed to live on his own. Arthur’s smile and sense of humor were gifts to those who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, his eldest sister, Gabrielle, “Gay” Anctil in 2007 and her husband Wallace Anctil in 2021.
He is survived by two sisters, Cecile “Jill” Zanger of Fort Myers, FL. and Virginia, “Ginger” Eckert of Comox, B.C. Canada, 6 nephews, 2 nieces, and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held at St. Kieran’s Cemetery, 4 Countryside Ave. in Berlin on 9/12/2022 at 1 p.m.
Donations in memory of Arthur Foris may be made to Tri-County CAP, 30 Exchange Street, Berlin, NH 03570
The Cremation Society of NH, Littleton office, is assisting the family with arrangements.
