Arthur W. Krueger, Jr.

Arthur W. Krueger, Jr. passed away, on Monday, September 11, 2023, after a valiant fight with Alzheimer’s Disease exacerbated by diabetes.

Art was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, to the late Arthur W. Krueger, Sr., and Miriam Grubert Krueger. Art spent his childhood in Chicopee working many summers as a lifeguard at Chicopee city pools, even earning his Red Cross lifesaving badge, as he was an excellent swimmer. After graduating from Chicopee High School in 1961, Art went on to attend The University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he majored in Astronomy, Business Administration, and enlisted in the ROTC.  Upon graduation from UMass, he was given a commission in the USAF SAC and was inducted into the USAF in September 1966. He did his basic training in Sacramento, California and upon completion, was stationed in Plattsburgh, NY, at the SAC E-24. He flew 39 missions over Viet Nam, Cambodia, and Thailand. As an Electronics Warfare Officer EWO (Old Crow) it was Art’s responsibility to scramble the enemy’s radar to keep the aircraft safe. During his commission he attained the rank of Captain. 

After his tour in the Air Force, he attended Honeywell Computer School in Billerica, Massachusetts. He spent his entire career in Information Technology. His various jobs included Kramer Technology, CVS, Stop and Shop, his own company, GTO Computer Solutions and many years with State Street Bank and Trust. 

In his free time, Art was a member of MENSA, VFW, and Rotary of Norfolk, Massachusetts, as well as coaching his son Erich’s baseball and soccer leagues when Erich was in middle and junior high. 

Art loved being outside. During his youth he spent many summers at Lake Wyola in Shutesbury, MA with his family at their cottage. He also enjoyed skiing in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and was also an avid golfer, and Boston sports fan, especially when his teams were winning!

In his retirement to New Hampshire, with his second wife Linda, he enjoyed taking cruises to eastern Bahamas and Bermuda. He also took several memorable vacations to Florida, the east coast, and the southwest, but perhaps his favorite vacation spot was Maine. Art and his family spent many summer vacations on the coast and lakes of Maine, even buying an investment, multi-family, property in Tenants Harbor, which he maintained for several years.

His final home with Linda was in a 55+ community in Franklin, NH.

In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Debby Taylor Krueger.

Art will be greatly missed by his wife, of fifteen years, Linda Krueger of Franklin, NH, his son Erich L. Krueger, daughter-in-law Melissa, and grandson Max, of Providence, RI.  He is also survived by his sister Audrey Martin and brother-in-law, Bill Martin, of Cummings, GA, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Linda’s two adult sons Jim and Patrick, their wives Nikki and Jessica, and their combined five grandchildren, whom he considered his own.

Services will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, located at 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH, on Thursday, October 12, at 1PM, fifteen years from the date and time he and Linda were married.
