Dr. Arthur Joseph McGonagle

Dr. Arthur Joseph McGonagle, 90, died on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home in Hollis, New Hampshire. He was born on August 6, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Arthur Joseph McGonagle and Josephine (McGowan) McGonagle. Arthur shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his wife, Roselinda (Serrago) McGonagle.

Arthur was born and raised in New England. He attended Winchester High School and Huntington Prep School for Boys, both in Massachusetts. Arthur was a Korean War veteran who received an honorable discharge from the Army and Navy. He went on to attend Northeastern University and graduated from Boston University with a BA in English Literature. He moved to New York to attend New York University Dental School. While in New York, he did a three-year residency in oral surgery at Bellevue Hospital. It was there he met Roselinda Serrago, who was working as a pharmacist. Arthur and Roselinda were married on July 1, 1962 in Manhattan. Together they enjoyed traveling the world and visited over 30 countries. He was a member of the Nashua Dental Society and practiced oral surgery in Nashua, NH for twenty years prior to his retirement in 1986. During retirement he had loving care from his wife and grandsons.

Arthur was very fond of nature and spending time outdoors – especially doing activities such as gardening, skiing, and fishing. Arthur took great pride in his collections of cookbooks, antiques, radios, gems, and rocks. He enjoyed gourmet cooking, archaeology, music, and was an avid reader. Photography was one of his favorite pastimes and he was a member of the Boston Camera Club. He loved his cats and dogs. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with family watching movies, sports, and celebrating holidays.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Roselinda McGonagle; his son, Arthur McGonagle; and his grandsons, Arthur and Shane McGonagle. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and William McGonagle.
