Arthur "Art" Teska
Newmarket- Arthur Teska, 77, of Newmarket, formerly of Bayport NY, devoted husband of Diane (Carey Bekman) Teska, passed away on April 29, 2014 at the Hyder Family Hospice House in the arms of his loving wife.
Born in Bronx, New York, Arthur was the son of the late John and Bertha (Chernak) Teska. Raised and educated in the Bronx, Art earned a Bachelor's Degree at Hofstra University. He dedicated his career to public service as a detective for the Suffolk County District Attorney, retiring in 1995.
An honorably discharged veteran, Art proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, from 1954 to 1962. He remained a member of the Coast Guard Reserve, retiring in 1999. He was very involved in Community Service and served as Conservation Commissioner for the Town of Newmarket and was a former member of the IRB Review Board at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Art was a loyal and loving husband and father. In his spare time, Art delighted in the companionship of his family and friends. He loved to cook and entertain. Art and Diane enjoyed traveling together during retirement. He will be best remembered for his love of others and his quick wit and sometimes slapstick sense of humor.
In addition to his beloved wife, Diane, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage, Art is survived by his four children, Curtis Teska of Dover, NH, Timothy Teska of Albany, NY, Charlene Moskowitz of Jacksonville, FL, and Anthony Teska of Jacksonville, FL; his stepdaughter, Shannon Bekman of Denver, CO; his four beautiful grandchildren; his brother, William Teska of Bronx, NY; and extended family and friends. His stepdaughter Jessica Bekman Arno predeceased Art.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life will be held on June 1st from 1-5 at the Portsmouth Country Club 80 Country Club Lane, Greenland NH.
