B. David Patenaude

B. David Patenaude, 86, of Henniker, NH passed away on June 17, 2022 at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home with family by his side. David was born on March 7, 1936 to Merle Sr. and Marjorie (Smith) Patenaude.

David graduated from Henniker High School and was a lifelong resident of Henniker. Athletics came naturally to David and he excelled at basketball, skiing, and golf. He was skiing the mountains of NH and VT off piste before it was trendy. After high school, he started a family and ran the family business Pat's Poultry with his brother, Joe. He embarked with his brothers in 1962 to open Pat's Peak ski area on land purchased from his father, and together they worked to clear the trails and build the original lodge.

David was a dedicated member of Weare Bible Baptist Church for many years. He shared his love of sports with his children by coaching their basketball teams. He was an avid farmer growing beautiful flowers, fruit, and vegetables. Upon retirement from the poultry business, he opened David's Berry Farm in Weare, NH selling u-pick strawberries in the 1980's. Later in life, he enjoyed working with family at his brother Stuart's business, Pat Trap.

In his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and golfing at Duston Country Club and tournaments around the state.

David loved God, his family, and country music. He was a thrifty Yankee of the original sort.

He is preceded in death by his generous and loving parents, Merle Sr. and Marjorie Patenaude and his older brother and friend, Joe Patenaude. He is survived by his siblings, Stuart (Kathy) Patenaude of Henniker, Wayne (Sally) Patenaude of Hopkinton, and Diane McMahon of Hooksett; his sister-in-law, Beverly Bailey Patenaude of Henniker; his children, Mark Patenaude of Henniker, Michelle Patenaude of Weare, Matthew Patenaude of Henniker, and Rebecca (Philip) Collins of Barrington; and his 9 grandchildren.
