Barbara Tuck (Jefferson) Belmonte died December 16, 2019 in Spring Hill Florida at the age of 94.
Barbara was born on June 4th 1925 to Frank W. Tuck and Mary Ryan Tuck the owners of the Stratham General Store, and Postmaster and Town Clerk of Stratham N.H. She attended elementary school in the one room Winnicutt schoolhouse and attended High School in Portsmouth. During those early years she lived through the Great Depression, The Hurricane of 1938 and World War Two.
After moving several times across country and living in Illinois and Montana with her family she returned to Boston as a divorced mother bringing up her three children (Rosemary, Frankie and Cecily) while woking at Northeastern University before returning to Stratham and taking a job in the Dean's office of Philips Exeter Academy. While working at the Academy she caught the eye of Jerry Belmonte (d. 2002) to whom she was married for 38 years.
All her life our mother enjoyed many pastimes including gardening, playing cards with friends and family, painting pictures, and crafting especially decorating her walls with framed needlework and artwork and hooking rugs. Even when using a walker to get around she would rearrange her furniture on a regular basis much to the consternation of her children and grandchildren. In retirement she also took classes in library Sciences and worked at the Kingston and East Kingston libraries.
She was predeceased by her son Joseph Francis Jefferson III (1949-1978)
She is survived by Rosemary Milewski and her husband George of Bethlehem NH, Cecily McNair of Epsom NH, her grandchildren Aja (McNair) Davison Of Epsom and her husband Keith, Ian McNair and his wife Shauna of Thornton NH and four greatgrandchildren Keith and Brooke Davison and Cullen and Gavin McNair.
A private internment was held on June 4th 2020 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Kingston NH.
The family has made donations to the SPCA of NH and the NH Food bank in fond memory of Barbara's love of animals and her loving caring nature.
De to the corona virus, in lieu of a memorial service the family has, in loving memory, attached a "Video Memorial Tribute" below. We hope you will take a moment to watch it.
