Barbara Hunt Bryant passed away on August 26, 2025, at 93 years old. Although she had recently been cared for at the Wolfeboro Bay Center in Wolfeboro, she had spent most of her life in Sandwich, New Hampshire. Barbara was born Barbara May Hunt on September 4, 1931 to Kenneth and Doris (Perkins) Hunt in Reading, Mass. The family moved to Sandwich when she was 14 years old. She attended and graduated from the Quimby School. She married Milton (Bob) Bryant, Sr. on her 18th birthday in 1949.
Barbara is survived by her son, Bob Bryant (Louisa) of Sandwich, NH; daughter Diane Abbott (Arthur) of Moultonborough, NH and daughter Elaine Comstock (Rick) of Moultonborough, NH. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren who fondly referred to her as Grammie Barb: Christine Roman (Steven) and children, Seneca and Madeleine; Emily Walenda (Joe) and children, Connor and Jacob; AJ Abbott (Amy) and children, Alden and Sarah Abbott, Molly Mason, Coleman Mason (Katie) and daughter, Emma; Ty Bryant (Kim) and children, Taylor and Jackson; Elizabeth Madigan (Derek) and children, Jennifer and Joshua; Adam Peaslee (Kendra) and children, Abigail, Samuel, Benjamin, Joanna and Daniel; Bryan Peaslee (Cayla) and children Simon and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Micarelli (Mic) of Noti, Oregon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Bob; her sister, Elisabeth Wescott of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; her son-in-law, Dan Peaslee; and her great-grandson, Gabriel Peaslee (Adam and Kendra.)
Barbara enjoyed volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program, helping with the Congregate Meals in Sandwich. She also enjoyed her time with her friends at the Winnipesaukee Wellness Center, especially on the days when they gathered afterwards at Dunkin Donuts. After Bob passed away in 1988 Barbara worked in the Sandwich Central School kitchen, a job she had done previously when her own children were in elementary school. She spent many years working at the Corner House Inn, insisting Clarence the Ghost lived in the basement!
Many thanks to the kind and caring staff at the Wolfeboro Bay Center in Wolfeboro for helping her in these last months. The family would also like to thank the Interlakes Community Caregivers for the many rides they provided to keep her active.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Baptist Meetinghouse, 12 Church Street in Sandwich, NH, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Rural Cemetery behind the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara’s name to The Interlakes Community Caregivers, PO Box 78, Center Harbor, NH 03226.
