Barbara A Crisman

Barbara Crisman, of Lancaster, NH, passed away peacefully at home on September 17th, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born in New York, Barbara grew up in Westchester County, the daughter of obstetrical surgeon, Dr. Herbert Spitzel and Gertrude Endres Spitzel. As a young woman, she embraced the creative energy of Greenwich Village and developed a free-spirited love for life. In high school, Barbara met her lifelong love, Robert Crisman. As they planned their future together during Robert’s service in the army, fate saw their lives intertwine and they were married in January, 1969. Soon after, they started a family and moved to New Hampshire where Barbara embraced country living. Caring for her horses and finding peace on the lake, she could often be found floating in her tube with her geese following close behind. She had a deep love for the ocean, cherishing family trips to the shore, and was captivated by the vibrant turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Barbara created a warm and welcoming home where her children enjoyed a carefree childhood and friends were always welcome. As a grandmother, her fun-loving and generous spirit kept her in the center of every heart. Quick with a smile, joke and a bit of chocolate, she shared a deep bond with her grandsons who learned much about kindness and love from their time with her.

Barbara’s time with all who knew her was well spent. She is deeply missed.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Gertrude Spitzel, and her husband Robert Crisman. She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Ardizzone and her husband Keith, and their children, Ryan, Evan and Luke, and by her daughter Kate Rodrigue and her husband Aaron, and their children Ethan and Jack.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
