Barbara Ann (Russell) Dingle, 86, passed away peacefully October 12, 2018 at her home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. She was born on April 20, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Augustine D. Russell and Sarah G. (Foley) Russell and sister of Augustine D. Russell II, James D. Russell and Sarah G. (Russell) Woods.
Barbara was the wife of John (Jack) F. Dingle who died in 2004. They were married on April 10, 1960 and lived in Holden, Massachusetts until Jack retired in 1984. They then moved to Chocorua, New Hampshire before finally settling in Wolfeboro.
Barbara attended Framingham State College from 1950-52 and was a member of the Hospital Corps PO3 with the U.S. Navy from 1952-54. After her time with the Navy, Barbara was a medical technician with the New England Medical Center. Throughout her life Barbara was an active member of her community. She was active in the Memorial Hospital Aid Society, the Holden Hospital Aid Society, and the Huggins Hospital Aid Society. Barbara was a trustee of Runnels Hall in Chocorua, as well as the President of the Holden Women's Club 1969-71, and a member OES Wachusett Chapter 131.
Barbara had numerous passions which provided her great joy. She was a highly creative and skilled knitter, needle pointer, and quilter. Barbara was the President of the Central Massachusetts Embroidery Guild of America 1979-81. She was also a member of the Connecticut River Valley Embroidery Guild, the Maine Embroidery Guild, and the Ladies of the Lake Quilters Guild. Accomplished in genealogy Barbara spent decades tracing the family tree, constructing a comprehensive family history going back hundreds of years. Barbara was also an avid fly fisherman, and loved fly fishing with her husband Jack. They spent many Septembers canoeing and fishing the remote ponds of Baxter State Park in Maine. They also enjoyed travelling across the U.S. and abroad. When home, Barbara enjoyed gardening and her cocker spaniels.
Barbara is predeceased by daughter Laurie J. (Dingle) Justice and son Russell E. Dingle. She is survived by sons Robert J. Dingle, Peter C. Dingle, and Jonathan Dingle.
