Barbara Gagnon, beloved wife, mother, Memere, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 at the age of 85. Born on March 19, 1939, Barbara was a constant source of support to those she held dear, always available to lend her ear and a relatable story or two through lengthy phone calls or personal visits. She married the love of her life, Robert Gagnon, on August 24, 1963, and together they built a life full of love and laughter, facing all challenges that came their way as a close-knit team.
Barbara is survived by her children, Heidi Lacerte and her husband Emile, Trina Gagnon, Gregory Gagnon and his wife Tammy (Hartford), and Keith Gagnon and his wife Shannon (Smith). She was predeceased by her daughter Trina’s life partner, Peter Laflam, as well as her parents and several brothers and sisters. Barbara's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Courtney Lacerte, Brittney Lacerte, Lexi (Lacerte) Hammond and husband Dylan Hammond, Emma Gagnon, Aaron (AJ) Gagnon, Cameron Gagnon, Noah Gagnon, and Olivia Gagnon, as well as her first great-grandchild, Boston Hammond. Also known and loved as Auntie Barbie, she will be greatly missed by many and especially her close nieces and nephews, Jessica Olen, Matt Olen, Karen Hinsley, David Gagnon and Michael Gagnon.
Barbara dedicated over 20 years of service as a fire and police dispatcher in Hooksett, NH, and was known for her fierce dedication and calm demeanor under pressure. Before and after retiring, she devoted herself to babysitting full-time, helping to raise all eight of her grandchildren, imparting her wisdom and love to the next generation.
She found joy in regular trips to Montreal and other parts of Canada with her husband, reading, scrapbooking, shopping on QVC, but, most of all, attending her grandchildren's numerous life achievements, dance recitals, sporting events and school functions. Her presence was always a source of support and encouragement.
Barbara's generosity and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
Services will be held at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 21 Main Street Hooksett, March 13th @ 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Barbara’s favorite charity.
