Barbara H. Hebert, 69, of Bedford, NH, passed away on September 9, 2021, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
She was born on May 6, 1952, in Huntington, NY, on Long Island. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin R. and Carolyn (Young) Hatch.
Barbara graduated from Northport High School and Franklin Pierce University. She dedicated her career to special education, devoting her work to making a difference in the lives of others. Barbara taught for many years in the Manchester, NH, school system.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel T. Hebert, in 2013. She leaves behind her sons, Patrick Hebert and his wife Katherine Sorensen, of Long Island City, NY, and Jarrod Hebert and his wife Katie Hebert, of East Northport, NY; beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Caroline and Margaux of East Northport, NY; sister Joyce H. Milone of North Haven, CT; niece Heather Milone of New York, NY; and many cousins and close friends.
Barbara was a beacon of sunshine to all those around her, blessed with an infectious laugh, a radiant smile, and the ability to infuse any situation with fun and enthusiasm. She was an outdoorswoman who loved swimming and exploring New England in her kayak or on skis. Barbara also enjoyed travel to a variety of places, from far-flung destinations like Rome and Hawaii to spots closer to home like South Hampton, NY, and Ocean City, NJ. A woman of faith, Barbara was active in her church and enjoyed the fellowship of other members. Above all, Barbara’s favorite times were spent with her family and friends. Whether you were sitting on her back deck enjoying a summer evening or hearing her read a story to her grandchildren, you always felt special and loved in Barbara’s presence.
A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church, 508 Union Street, Manchester, NH, on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Due to COVID protocol, all memorial attendees must wear masks while in the church building.
