It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear mother, sister, sister-in-law, gram, aunt, and cherished friend, Barbara Joan Davidson Michel. Barbara was born in North Conway on July 23, 1943. She was the daughter of the late George and Maren Davidson. Raised in Conway, she graduated from Kennett High School in 1961 and then attended Burdette College in Boston.
Many remember Barbara fondly from the ten plus years she ran the Hampton Friendly’s. Barbara was a beloved member of The Hampton United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her talents were many where she led Sunday School, Church meetings, and for years was the President of the United Methodist Women’s group. Known for her deep love of God, and for her enormous laugh and a heart so full of kindness and compassion… she will be missed.
Barbara shared 52 years of marriage with the love of her life, Norman Michel whom she met while driving his daily Trailways bus route that Barbara rode each day.
Surviving members include her daughter Karin Michel of Hampton, son Kevin and his wife Sheri of The Villages, FL, three fabulous grandchildren, Christopher, Madison and Adam, along with her three grand dogs, Mac, Bubba, and Tito, her brother Tom Davidson and his wife Sue, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her dear husband, Norman Michel.
We will gather to remember Barbara’s legacy of love, warmth, and most of all her generosity.
We share the love Barbara had for her three p’s… pansies, purple and Persians(cats).
In lieu of traditional remembrances, donations can be made in Barbara’s memory to The Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842 or to Rockingham Nutrition Program, Hampton Meals on Wheels.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH., with a reception to follow in Carter Hall.
A service of burial will be held at The High Street Cemetery, 140 High Street, Hampton, NH.
While Barbara’s presence will be deeply missed, we know her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
