Listen to Obituary

Barbara (Schwartz) Nystrom, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 13th 2025, after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in various places, being a military wife. She is predeceased by her ex-husband, Donald Nystrom, her sister, Dorothy Schleicher and two brothers, Ed and Bernie Schwartz. She is survived by her older brother Fred Schwartz.

Throughout her life, she embraced the role of “Mom”, not only for her children Brian, Donna, Keith, and Scott, but for anyone who needed her. She generously opened her heart and home to others, whether they needed a hot meal, a safe place to stay, or simply some motherly advice.

She resided in Nashua, NH for many years, where she continued her service to others. She taught Sunday school, volunteered at the thrift shop, and helped with various events at Pilgrim Congregational Church. In retirement, she moved to Merrimack, NH and volunteered at Home, Health & Hospice Care. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, traveling with her friends and spending time with her family.

She was a kind, outgoing soul, with a quick wit that often caught people off-guard. She will be missed and fondly remembered by the many whose lives she touched.

A celebration of her life will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Nashua, on February 21st at 2:00 PM.
