Barrie Reid Glidden, Sr.

Barrie R. Glidden Sr., long time resident of Stratham passed away on October 12th at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, with his wife by his side.

Born July 8th, 1934 in Quincy Massachusetts to George (Bert) and Beryl Glidden and raised in Ashland NH.

Barrie was a proud twenty year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam and many bases abroad and stateside. While serving in Germany he met and married Karin, his wife of 66 years. After retiring from the Air Force he went on to earn a Bachelors in business and worked at Pease Air Force Base with the MWR department for many years. Barrie enjoyed fishing and hunting, telling stories and spending the winter in Florida.

Barrie is survived by his wife Karin, son Barrie Jr. partner Lynn, daughter Beryl Small of Stratham. He was predeceased by his daughter Leslie Land. He also leaves behind his sisters Deb Glidden and husband Jim of Bristol NH and Barbara Murphy of Colorado.

He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as ‘Opa’.

“I am able to sit up and take a little nourishment from time to time” he always said when asked how he was. His sense of humor and wit will be missed by all that knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Beacon Hospice and all his many care providers.

ARRANGEMENTS: A private military service is planned for the spring. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Hampton.
