Bertha I. Fage, 88, of Contoocook died peacefully on June 18, 2005 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Concord. Bertha was born on October 20, 1916 in Perry, Maine the daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Cook) Outhouse. In 1935 she graduated from Shead Memorial High School in Eastport, Maine and later took business courses. She was employed at Waltham Watch for several years and then spent 19 years at Merck & Company in Needham, MA where she eventually retired. She enjoyed bowling and was an excellent basketball player. Bertha was a dancer. Much of her spare time was spent tap dancing, round dancing and square dancing. She attended and participated in dancing conventions and even made a special appearance at the Prudential Center with her husband Roland that was aired on national television. She and her husband were avid roller skate dancers at the “Nuttings on the Charles” in Waltham, MA. She was a devoted homemaker who will be remembered by her relatives for making delicious fudge around the holidays. Family members include; her husband of 57 years, Roland P. Fage; a sister, Harriet Stuart of Lubec, Maine; a brother-in-law, Paul Richardson of Eastport, Maine. Seven sisters predeceased Bertha. There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, June 26th at 2:00 PM at Countryside Community Church on Main Street in Contoocook. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Stroke Foundation, 9707 East Easter Lane, Englewood, CO 80112.
