Beverley P. St. Hilaire

Beverley P. St. Hilaire, 95, of Bow, died peacefully Saturday, May 23, 2020 following a period of declining health.

Beverley was born in Boston, MA April 4, 1925 to Carl and Estelle (Mardon) Pitman. She grew up in Reading MA and graduated from Reading Memorial HS in 1942. Following high school, she attended the University of Maine at Orono and was a member of the Maine Masque Association (UMaine theatre) as well as the Alpha Omicron Ii sorority. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Home Economics. During her high school and college years, Beverley played the cornet in various musical organizations and volunteered where needed.

She was married to David E. St. Hilaire Jr.. They courted by mail while David was serving during WWII and were married after the war. They loved and cared for each other for over 50 years until David's passing in November, 2004.

Beverley was a very compassionate person who taught her children the Golden Rule – to treat others as you would like to be treated – from a young age through adulthood, constantly reminding them to try and step into the other person's shoes regardless of the circumstances. It is this base of human understanding that made Beverley such a special person who touched the lives of those whose path she crossed.

She held various jobs during her life including a librarian, retail sales person, and various other roles. Finally, she spent over 20 years working as an Administrative Assistant for the State of NH Wildlife Division in Concord, NH, from which she eventually retired.

Beverley enjoyed knitting, crochet, reading, and in her later years, found coloring books to be very relaxing and meditative.

Throughout her life, Beverley's passion was the Episcopal church. Over the last 50 years she has served the Church of the Good Shepard in Nashua, NH (and was a choir member), St. Pauls Episcopal in Lancaster NH, the Episcopal Diocese of NH, and St. John's Episcopal in Dunbarton, NH. It was at St. John's where she, with her husband David, stepped in during a challenging time and through her relentless service contributed to the revitalization of the parish – which is active to this day.

Over the last 14 years, she was cared for by a dear family friend, Stacey Nesbitt-Porat, who was like a daughter to her and instrumental in facilitating Beverley's independent living and quality life until the day of her passing.

Beverley is survived by her son Robert St. Hilaire, two grandchildren: Jody St. Hilaire Johnson and Todd St. Hilaire, her grandson, Owen St. Hilaire (Todd's son), and her daughter in law, Deborah Obara.

Beverley is predeceased by her son David Gary St. Hilaire and her daughter, Janet St. Hilaire.
