Bonnie Lee (Bent) Pratt of Contoocook, NH, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at Granite VNA Hospice House, surrounded by her family and friends.
Bonnie was born March 1, 1942, in Boston, MA. She grew up in Stoneham, MA where she attended and graduated from Stoneham High School in 1959. After high school, Bonnie enrolled in nursing school and graduated from Malden Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. After various stops throughout Vermont and New Hampshire, Bonnie and Richard settled in Contoocook, NH in 1980.
Bonnie began her nursing career as an operating room nurse at Malden Hospital after her graduation. She served in a variety of positions throughout her 55-year career and in 1996, ultimately found her dream job at Concord Regional Visiting Nurses VNA Hospice House (now known as Granite VNA Hospice House). Bonnie found her passion and her purpose when she began working for Hospice House. This was her home away from home, where she felt the most reward and great pride in helping family and friends navigate the loss of a loved one.
She is predeceased by her husband, Richard W. Pratt who passed in 2014. She is survived by her children, Keith R. Pratt of Contoocook, NH; Sheryl L. Meeker also of Contoocook, NH; Kristine Blanchette and her husband, Harold (Herm) of Warner, NH; and her 4 grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor, Byrnna and Ethan.
Later in life, Bonnie was able to connect with her newly found siblings brother, Hugh O’Brien and his wife, Carol of Greenfield, NH and sister, Loretta Oven’s and her husband, Art of Milford, NH.
Bonnie’s family wishes to thank the staff at Granite Hospice House for reminding us why Bonnie felt this was such a special place. We are grateful her last days were in a place she called her second home.
