Brendan Loughnane Foley. Brenny, Bren.
Born July 22, 1981.
Husband to the lovely Catherine Chipman, son of Colleen and the late Jack Foley, brother to Kate Foley & Brian Jesseman, Kara Mia & Ian DeLisle, brother-in-law to both Jenny Chipman and John Chipman, James Young-Dumont, Danielle & Nate Frommer, son-in-law to Robert Chipman & Marie Young, Christine & Ken Harvey and favorite uncle to Roisin, Frankie, and Henry. Whiskey and Vella were his constant and loyal companions, the three loved to be snuggled up on the couch.
Bren left our world on January 14, 2024 after an accident sustained while doing what he loved - shredding at his home mountain, Cannon. Brendan grew up in the Franconia-Bethlehem area and after graduating college moved to Portland, Maine where he stayed until he met Catherine, the love of his life, and moved back home to the mountains. An avid reader, Brendan spent his time reading on the porch while listening to one of his countless records, his beloved dogs by his side. His diverse interests and open nature gave him a special gift of bridging divides and having a wide circle of friends. He loved to snowboard and skateboard, passions he carried with him from his teenage years. He spent many years working in the vibrant food and beverage scene in Portland, carrying on a family tradition of bringing people together.
Looking for a man who adored his bride? You found him.
You know a book? He read it.
You liked some song? He played it for you. (Well - at least the first 30 seconds…)
You have a curb? He rode it.
You like giggles? He had them and then you did too.
You need a friend? He is yours.
He was always there to lift you up, wearing his heart on his sleeve, and he will be greatly missed by so many.
“The free soul is rare, but you know it when you see it- basically because you feel good, very good, when you are near or with them.” Charles Bukowski, Tales of Ordinary Madness
