Bruce Roy Gallagher, 82, died peacefully in the presence of his beloved wife at his home in Farmington, NH on Monday, February 22, 2021 after living with Parkinson's disease for 22 years. The family is grateful for the home care services of Interim Healthcare followed by hospice services of Wentworth Hospice and Home Care that provided eight months of medical support at the end of Bruce's life.
Bruce was born in Norwood, MA on December 22, 1938, the second child of Russell Shepard Gallagher (deceased) and Ruth Harriet (Neale) Wood (deceased). He has an older sister, Barbara Marie (Gallagher) Botaish, and a younger brother, David Wendell Gallagher.
During his childhood, the family moved multiple times around New England and summered at Wellfleet on Cape Cod. He graduated from Dedham High School in Massachusetts in 1956.
In 1960, he converted to the Roman Catholic Church and enlisted in the United States Air Force security service. After learning Russian at Indiana University, he was deployed to Hof/Sale (Germany) where he gathered intelligence for three years. While there he enjoyed traveling to many European locations. After his service, Bruce entered St. Fidelis Seminary, a Franciscan Capuchin monastery, in Herman, PA and studied there for three years. He spent an additional year at St. Pope John XXIII Seminary in Weston, MA. After prayerful consideration, Bruce chose not to pursue the priesthood. The following few years were spent in Boston living on Beacon Hill while he studied international banking and worked briefly in the Boston banking industry.
He met his wife, Margaret Mary (McQuaide) in Charleston, WV in 1971 and married in October 1972. Bruce had a photography business in Charleston and briefly taught at Charleston Catholic High School.
In 1976, Bruce and Margaret moved to the Boston area where he pursued his interest and talent in men's grooming. He formed bruce gallagher images international, ltd. â a company focused on men's grooming, image consulting and photography. He worked in various men's shops in Boston. Later he moved to northern New England and ultimately settled in NH, where he bought the Manstyle/Market Square business in Portsmouth, and became affiliated with The World Modeling Association for 15 years. He conducted weekend seminars for men's imaging around the United States. He retired from his business in 2011.
Bruce served as a Big Brother in Boston and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dover, NH and a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Farmington, NH.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Margaret; his sister, Barbara; his brother David, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews and many close and loving friends and extended family, near and far. Special thanks to the many family and friends who offered prayers to carry him through the last challenging years.

There will be a Mass in Celebration of Bruce's Life on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1 PM at St. Mary's Church, 71 Lowell St. Rochester, NH.
