Burnham Burney Josselyn Dover, NH Age 92 of Dover Point, died peacefully at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital on Tuesday February 7th. He was born on January 27, 1914 in Malden, MA. Burney was the son of Herbert and Helen (Wiggin) Josselyn. He was raised in Newington, Durham and Colraine, MA. He graduated from Portsmouth High School Class of 1931, and also from the New England Aircraft School in Boston, MA. He also earned a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Burney was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, and served in the Signal Corps overseas during WWII. He was married to Helen Cannon on April 1, 1944 in San Antonio, TX and then he returned to duty in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge from the service in 1945. He had achieved the rank of Captain. After the war, he moved to Baltimore, MD to work for the Glenn L. Martin Company (now known as Lockheed Martin). While employed with them, Burney created many inventions for the aerospace industry that are currently used today. In his retirement, Burney enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, bird watching, cribbage and stargazing with his new telescope. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Helen (Cannon) Josselyn, in 1997, as well as his sister Dorothy Josselyn in 1996. He is survived by his son, Roy L. Josselyn of Dover. 2 grandsons, John B. Josselyn of Los Angeles, CA and Eric C. Josselyn of Bethesda, MD. Extended family includes Joni Haynes, as well as Wayne and Kelsi McCarthy of Portsmouth. There are no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at the convenience of the family.
